I wonder how many people voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012 thinking he was not a Christian. I wonder how many of those people would still vote for him…you can count all those votes of people on welfare and illegals enjoying your taxes. Don’t you love knowing your hard earned dollar that the government takes goes to someone who doesn’t pay taxes or is sitting at home watching their flat screen you essentially bought. That’s neither here nor there.

Yea, so President Obama is a Catholic Christian. He keeps his faith to himself and out of the public eye, which I’m not sure why. Claims of Obama being a muslim have followed him his entire presidency, and who really knows but him. Every year on his birthday he has a conference call with 2 priest to pray for him for the upcoming year.

“Sometimes I search scripture to determine how best to balance life as a president and as a husband and as a father,” Obama said in February at the National Prayer Breakfast. “I often search for scripture to figure out how I can be a better man as well as a better president.” He has quietly become more religious the longer he has been in office. Can you blame him? After what that man has dealt with and been put through, he better find something. I would love to see what MSNBC would say about this, but something tells me they will never run this over the air because of how liberal they are…can’t offend anyone remember. Fox News won’t air it either because Obama is a left wing nut who couldn’t be a Christian, right? Oh my, wouldn’t that be great to see! In a country where anything God related is being removed, where gay marriage will slowly be accepted everywhere, where abortion will one day be possible at all clinics, a Christian president is leading us…Now wait a minute, that doesn’t add up to the Christian faith I know. How can a man who claims to follow Jesus Christ be pro choice and pro gay marriage. (removing God from anything public or government related I understand since the constitution says to keep church and state separate). My conclusion, he sides with that because his party sides with that. He would have never received the democratic nomination had he been pro life and anti gay…that is republican if I’ve ever seen it. The only thing I can do for the man is pray for him. Which I’ll continue to do for the next 2 years.

Mikey needs to find a hobby. Not looking for religious things that “offend” the institution. I’d be willing to bet that not 1 single cadet filed a complaint about saying, ‘So help me God’. In Mikey’s mindset, he thinks he’s doing the right thing. However he still believes it should be eliminated instead of optional. Look bud, just because you don’t like it, doesn’t mean you should “fix” it. If I was in the Air Force Academy, I would say it and make sure everyone heard me…especially if it is eliminated. This group is about as useful as a mosquito. Does nothing but causes problems wherever it decides to land. Spreads problems and tries to be in places it shouldn’t. I’m getting irritated just typing this.

At the same time, the United States Air Force Academy is a part of the government and the government is trying to rid itself of anything God related…mistake in my opinion. So in this politically correct world where everything you say can not offend anyone otherwise the media labels you a hater (God forbid you have your own opinion) I’m sorry, should I have left God out of that comment? Get over it. Does saying, “…so help me God” physically or mentally hurt anyone? Yes? Go see a therapist because you need help. They’ve said it for years and it has never been a problem, but to remove anything religiously affiliated from government bodies, then to appease the few who it bothers, you have to take out God. This country is already screwed up. What the founding fathers should have done from the beginning is just open up all borders and make sure nothing has a religion tied to it. It would have saved our courts 200 years of ridiculous cases, such as the Hobby Lobby one currently underway. If this is the land of the free, why are the citizens and business losing their freedom slowly? It’s just slow enough where no one realizes it but with the current direction of government, hello socialism. No I don’t watch Fox News or MSNBC…I’d rather not go to sleep every night thinking the world is about to end or everything is just great because Obama is president. Removing God out of my life is not an option, however, not everyone has my beliefs. I’m Christian, so to compare it I would have to say, ” So help me buddha” and I’m not saying that, so why should someone who doesn’t believe in God have to say that. They shouldn’t. Mikey Weinstein still needs a better hobby, but he has point. The Government wants to be appease everyone (that will never be possible) and in order to appease one group, you have to offend another. Cycle of life. Maybe in the future it will swing the other direction. I have my doubts with my generation…God help us

This is old news, I know. I also know that in today’s society, where everything is accepted by open minded people, it is frowned upon when something or someones are “discriminated”. I’m anti-gay but that does not mean I hate gay people or those who support it. My cousin is gay but we still visit him every Christmas. It makes me laugh when Obama says that this legislation will cause problems with Ugandan and US relations…I’m pretty sure there are plenty of Americans who are supporting this bill. Why is our (United States) government even getting involved to begin with? Can we stop policing the world down to the last piece of trash on the ground? Can we just be an owner of a team (world) and let the countries (GM) manage themselves. We can step in when something like, I don’t know, a weapon of mass destruction is apparent. Just because Uganda’s president and the people there have different views then the current party in power here in the U.S., doesn’t give us the right to intervene. As far as I know, all Obama has done is make a statement. I haven’t heard anything about support (aside from Christians) being given or pulled.

From what I’ve read, the Ugandan president is Anglican and been in power for 28 years. Obviously the people agree with him to keep re-electing him. If another country wants to ban gay marriage, then so be it. I don’t live there, I don’t vote there, it does not effect me… Now locking them up in prison (a substitute for the death penalty, YIKES!) is a bit extreme in my opinion. I guess that’s is the modern, open minded view point I have developed over my lifetime. It differs from generation to generation IMMENSELY! My great grandmother was about as prejudice and religious (kinda contradicting), my grandmother is very similar. My parents are quite a bit more open about ethnicity, only thing is illegal immigrants. They’ve raised me, so I’m more like them. I have friends that are of all races and sexuality. I still have my beliefs, my values, and my views on world issues. All I can do is vote!

I’m sure you’ve heard the remarks made my Donald Sterling, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers. While I strongly disagree with his remarks, I can’t help but wonder that by banning a man for life and forcing him to sell his investment, does he lose his first amendment rights? Last I checked, it says, ” Congress can make no law… abridging the freedom of speech…”. I understand the NBA is not Congress of the United States, but the commissioner and the owners basically make up the president and congress. The commissioner Adam Silver, in his first stint with this new title, discussed possible outcomes with a few other owners as well as some key players on the NBAPA. His decision came Tuesday afternoon, while I sat in Jersey Mike’s enjoying my lunch with a friend. At first I could care less, but as the day went on, it began to grow on me. The Clippers with their silent protest, ridiculous. Then the Heat did one as well…seriously? These are grown men who work for a living by playing basketball. Magic Johnson, former Los Angeles Lakers HOF PG decided to chime in his two cents. (granted he is in one of the pictures that Sterling saw his “girlfriend” with which may or may not have started this rant. Quit trying to make the world a perfect place, it is a waste of time. It will never happen. There are so many people like Donald Sterling in this world and with his money (or close to it). That generation is how they were raised. No, I’m not trying to find a way out for this guy but does it honestly surprise you an 81 year old rich WHITE male is prejudice? The man was born in the early 30’s, lived through all of the civil rights movements and I’d be willing to bet his parents were the same or maybe even more so. According to ESPN and their sources, Sterling is already preparing to sue the NBA (and I hope that gold dinging girlfriend too since she illegally recorded him according to California state law). Donald Sterling has been this way his whole life, why now does everyone want him out? Taking this to court will be very interesting and I’m sure the courts will side with the NBA to be politically correct. If this continues, one day you (most likely your grandkids, won’t be able to speak in public without being monitored by somebody else). You can kiss freedom of speech goodbye.

Once again, I do not agree with Sterling’s comments at all, but I also don’t agree with many of the actions in retaliation to those comments (If I was Sterling, I’d cut everyone of those players who participated in that silent protest) You play for the name on the front, not the name on the back. If you’re ashamed of my team, play somewhere else. It is a privilege to play in the NBA (and own a team), so don’t act like that when someone else goes off the path. There is no room, in the NBA, for racism. Heck their isn’t room anywhere. Today should be about the work or result of an individual, not the color of his skin, right?…Then why do universities reject those of one race, who may have better grades and a better community evolvement, to keep room for a minority race who is not putting forth the same effort or evolvement? If you don’t think it happens, it’s happened to me…

 

Racism (both ways) will always be an issue everywhere you go, it can’t be eliminated no matter what the government of governing officials try to do. I’m looking forward to seeing how it unfolds over the next few months…or years!

Way to go Texas! Not sure how long this will last and I honestly don’t know how closing 4 abortion clinics is a win but the fact that Texas is still fighting and not giving in makes me proud to be Texan. Being pro-life, I’ll take the small victories, because I know as a conservative, that this country is slowly becoming more and more liberal and in my eyes, crazy. At some point, and it will be in my lifetime, Texas will go blue and the southern conservative will be the minority so to speak. Austin is already weird, they even have t-shirts! It’s a fun place to visit with the lake and wonderful places to eat but I will leave this state the day it becomes that far left wing. A woman has the right to her body, that I agree with, she can pierce and tattoo and do whatever else she wants…but aborting a child is murder and I will never be okay with that. Obviously, with my believe, premarital sex is not an option so I don’t have to deal with abortions and the morning after pill. I’m sure the feeling of having a kid at a young age or at an improper time in a career can be over whelming if not terrifying but there are options besides killing the child. It’s not just Texas that will be dealing with all of this, in the article Mississippi and Wisconsin have similar laws and cases. Soon all of this will be in history books, then who knows, maybe everything turns and America realizes what is actually going on. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and interpretation of when a child is actually a child. Of course at the moment of conception their is no brain, no heartbeat, no shape but that’s a living organism that develops into a baby. If you want to speed up the scale, that’s like an adult looking at a born baby and saying that the baby (who obviously isn’t developed into a grown human) isn’t wanted or needed right now so let’s get rid of him/her. I realize it’s not just teens and early twenty year olds getting abortions. I’m sure married couple even do it. But I would bet the statistics would show that the majority of abortions are teens and single women who aren’t mature enough to make rational decision.  This subject is better debated face to face but reading this online all I can say is God Bless Texas…for now.

This is classic, a simple town of 90,000 or so who are normal everyday people are now in a lawsuit because an out of town interest decided their ways were offending and unconstitutional. Why can’t people mind their own business? Live your life, don’t try to live someone else’s. I understand the whole “prayer is offensive” thing. I know not everyone is a Christian and I know it may make people uncomfortable. The only thing I can personally compare it to was when an old girl friend of mine took me to mass. Yes it was a little different. I felt out of place with the kneeling and communion process but I didn’t throw a fit and go tell my local congressman that it offended me. I grew up in a non-denominational school, attended a southern baptist church, and yes the comparison isn’t quite the same since catholics and I worship the same God. But if we remove prayer out of everything because it makes someone uncomfortable or offended, is that where we draw the line? We’ve already seen people try to refuse service to same sex couples, that worked out nicely. If for some reason you’ve read my post, all of these issues deal with people and frankly there are too many people who are lazy and dumb. Forget about going through life and taking care of your own business, let’s go screw up John and Jane Doe’s world. C’mon man…If you don’t want to pray, then don’t. I’m sure you have ignored someone at some point in your life, why can’t those who are offended just ignore it for 40 seconds? Read a text and reply to it if prayer isn’t your thing. It won’t offend me at all. Just don’t be disruptive.

On a last note, many people (including my family members) are so concerned with the state removing God and Christianity from public schools. While I see what they are saying, most say the government is demoting Christianity, it’s actually just bringing it down on an equal playing field with the rest of the religions. This country isn’t a Christian nation, it never was. Many of the men who founded it and wrote the constitution were of Christian religious belief so of course the forward motion where they want to see the nation grow may have been influenced by a Christian essence but it was never intended to be Christian. If public schools want Christianity out, then go ahead and do that. Just means my kids will one day attend a private school.

Oh boy, here we go again with someone getting offended and wanting the government to bail them out. Oh so you would think, this time it is Kathleen Sebelius behind the recent Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood Specialities court case. Now of course I don’t know the details behind the scenes, not sure on who is pulling what strings or who is paying who (c’mon this is politics). However, Sebelius, although Democrat and very pro-choice, is not as far left wing as you might think. She supports the right to own firearms and even kept it illegal to have same sex marriages in Kansas while she was governor. The main kicker here is her women’s right. Saying she is a homer is keeping it light. So the fact she is behind both of these cases is not surprising. It’s sad to see that a family owned company can no longer decide how they want to run it (Now I don’t know if Hobby Lobby or Conestoga are publicly traded or not so when I say family owned…I’m thinking David Greene, who is the owner and founder, still is the top dog of Hobby Lobby). I know both companies offer their employees health insurance that even covers contraceptives like birth control. So the difference between Plan B and regular birth control is simple, birth control work by inhibiting ovulation and fertilization while Plan B, the morning after pill, prevent a fertilized egg from attaching itself to the wall and developing into a baby. Conservatives believe that once an egg is fertilized, it is life, therefore, a morning after pill would be killing life.

Should the courts rule that Hobby Lobby is unconstitutional, which they more then likely will with the current panel (only half of them have any sense), it will be very unfortunate. However, at the same time it will prevent some nut jobs in the future claiming that something interferes with their religion. I really can’t believe our country has come to this, yes a woman has a right to her body, if she wants to kill an unborn child then she can deal with that when she is standing at the gates of heaven but forcing a company to pay for your “mistakes” is ridiculous. Be more responsible with the paycheck and insurance you are already receiving . Time to start taking responsibility and earning what you work for, stop being lazy and collecting everything the government will give you.

It seems like Arizona is always in the media for something controversial. This time it had major implications and thousands of people turned their eyes towards the state. So if you don’t know (I think everyone does), Jan Brewer, a Republican governor for Arizona, vetoed a bill that would have given anyone the right to refuse service to someone on religious grounds. Even with my beliefs, I think even this extreme is a bit far. Heck the prior incident with Arizona basically gave authorities to profile, but what I didn’t have an issue with was making it illegal for illegal immigrants to hold a job. If they can get free healthcare and not pay taxes but still live here…I don’t think that’s right. I don’t care if they want to be in America, just be a legal citizen.

Back to the refusal bill.

If I’m not mistaken, a couple years back a photographer was sued by a gay couple because the photographer refused to work their wedding because it was against her religious beliefs. Personally I have no problem with that, it’s my career, if I don’t want to work a specific event…I shouldn’t have to. What really irritates me is that people think they have the right to sue someone over incidents like that. If it offends you, go find someone else, go eat someone else, and move on with your life.

I’m sitting here now getting frustrated.

Is it really that difficult to move on? Is it pride? Kanye West hates white people, I don’t listen to Kanye West…should I sue him because he doesn’t like me? No, I don’t buy his music because I’d get a 15 yard penalty everywhere I went…oh wait, wrong category. I don’t buy it because I don’t support him or I change the radio station. It’s really that easy…

Anyway, enough of my rant. Arizona walked a tight rope last week. I heard many people say that Gov. Brewer loves the spotlight and would garner as much attention as possible and if that was the case, bravo because it worked. No state should have to be this rooted into religion and peoples’ personal beliefs on who they serve during business. Yes that restaurant who started all of this probably should’ve just served the partners. If they are Christian (the owners), they should’ve been mature enough to realize that even though it is a sin, they shouldn’t discriminate against another. Treat them like a brother or sister. Be the example. Besides, isn’t the point of running a business to make money? So why refuse a profit?

Now why the NFL had to make a big deal about moving the Super Bowl I found quite funny. Talk about being politically correct. I mean I see why they had to look elsewhere but my goodness what has this world come to. Like I’ve said in previous post….people are just dumb in general.

 

No one should be refused service, but at the same time, if it’s my local business and not a corporation (or maybe I own the corporation) I should not be forced to do business when I do not want to and the gov’t better damn sure not cross my civil rights and force me to. Heck if I was gay and some local joint refused service to me (food, photographer, tour, etc…), you know what I’d do…I’d go somewhere else who appreciates my business. Not be a baby about it. I’m straight so if I get awful cutover service somewhere, I shop elsewhere, I eat elsewhere. It really is that simple.

…I guess I’m unusual because I would love to talk about this subject

Ok, so first off this guy makes a pretty wide statement saying every religion believes their “God” is ok with whatever he/she does. Are we talking about abortion, murder, stealing, lying…etc? Because the majority of people will have similar views on those topics and not be isolated thinking everyone else is crazy. ..Or maybe I’m the crazy one for thinking people are still morally sound (for the most part)

 

He then reaches back to the slave days and claims that people believed the Christian God was cool with slavery, last I checked, people are not perfect. I’m sure some did think that but there is a small problem, I’m not form the 1800s so I honestly can’t tell you what exactly went through their minds. Back then, it was a lifestyle, a common way of living, especially in the South. I’m not saying it’s ok, I’m only saying that people will falter and sin. Slavery is all throughout the Bible but doesn’t say anything about God being ok with it. Funny thing is many times, something eventful happens and slavery ends. (Moses rescues his people, Civil War ends slavery here). Mankind commenced slavery, and mankind is at fault. No one is blaming God for that.

 

Then he brings up Phil Robertson and some of his remarks on his beliefs. “Remember that big who-cares recently when Duck Dynasty’s chief mouth-breather Phil Robertson indicated that black people were happier under Jim Crow, literally working in fields? ‘They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.’” I can see why he brings this up because it makes his argument for his piece seem better. However, if I go out and ask a black man his opinion on slavery, do you think he’s going to say, Oh it wasn’t so bad. The whites were pretty friendly and we thank them. Absolutely not, he may get offended and he may even go off on me and start telling me off. This doesn’t make him crazy, but this doesn’t make him the spokesman of all black’s opinion on slavery. He is entitled to his own opinion just like Phil is. I’ve actually had the privilege to speak with Phil twice at Christian, Hunters, and Anglers conventions. No he isn’t crazy, he’s actually an extremely nice, God fearing man who is passionate about the outdoors, be to some he can come across a bit…different.

 

I’ll be honest, I have yet to read the Bible from beginning to end, but I know that the Old Testament is different from the New Testament. Not only in years but lifestyles as well. Larry Womack reaches back to the Old Testament and says, “The Bible says that we should execute rape victims, girls who lie about their virginity and adulterers. It says we’re not allowed to eat fat, rare meat, cheeseburgers, pork, leftovers, calamari or practically any other delicious thing. It says that touching a football is wrong. It says that wearing fabric blends is wrong. It says that shaving is wrong. It forbids women from speaking in church. It demands the death penalty for disobedient children, fortune tellers and people working on the Sabbath. It says that slaves should obey their masters “according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ.” The Bible even calls for the execution of animals that are raped. While it was probably a leap forward in terms of overall human morality, it is still the product of an environment that was far from enlightened and in many ways simply does not fit the modern view of God, Jewish, Christian or other.” After Jesus came to this earth, everything changed. No longer were people unable to speak to God themselves. Jesus came and died on the cross for everyone. All of this strict living and outlandish lifestyles were not necessary. Now what really made me laugh was after reading that, and thinking what I just told you now, Womack ends that paragraph with, “And don’t give me that Old Testament / New Testament nonsense — if I wanted to justify slavery with religious text, the New Testament would be my very best friend.” HELLO! I was like nice one, but you still do not understand my Lord and Savior. That’s ok…I guess. I’m not going to track him down and threaten his life or be a martyr. Larry can say and believe whatever he wants, that’s what is so great about this country (I wonder when we as Americans will lose that right sometimes).

I’ll wrap it up with this, not everyone is the same as I’m sure you are aware. So when people make a wide statement assuming that everyone is, does this or is doing this, it sort of makes me smile and shake my head. “Black people should be separated from white people because God. Global warming isn’t real because God. Gay people are wicked because God. Infidels must die because God. Except, really, it’s because people long ago discovered that religion is great for passing one’s will off as universal morality. It is a self-perpetuating, horrible cycle.” I don’t know who thinks or lives like this but I guess he knows someone out there?

In the end Womack does not care “…About Your Damn Religion” but I do. I would love to be able to talk to someone who doesn’t agree with me. I’m not going to try and shove my believes down their throat but just to be able to learn about someone else’s viewpoint and why they believe what they believe just helps be better understand where he/she may be coming from. It certainly can’t hurt you to be well educated.

Everyone has heard of this show and now many know of the controversy that has recently appeared. The Robertson family, which the show follows, are known to be Christian. When the show first aired, at the end when Phil Robertson would pray with his family, the producers actually cut the end of the prayer where he would usually say something like “in Jesus’ name, amen.” Phil of course wasn’t to happy with this and spoke with the producers; from seasons 2-4 that part was shown (1).  Now Phil Robertson has been in the crosshairs for the his comments on his stance on gay marriage.

In mid-December 2013, controversy from comments made in an interview with GQ Magazine, “It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus,” Robertson told GQ. “That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.” (2). This resulted in an indefinite suspension by A&E because the media deemed these remarks as “anti-gay”. The suspension started a “nationwide debate about tolerance and religion.” Following public pressure on A&E to lift the suspension, he was reinstated nine days later.

Now a days, no one can say something on public television without someone gettingoffended. Robertson’s anti-gay comments did not sit well with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) advocates. GLAAD called his comments some of “the vilest and most extreme” uttered against the LGBT community, “littered with outdated stereotypes and blatant misinformation.” (2). Okay people, so someone doesn’t agree with your viewpoint…get over it. Kanye West hates white people, I’m not crying myself to sleep at night over it. If you’re gay then be gay, don’t spend your whole day complaining about what someone else thinks. This country has gone way to far with lawsuits and maintaining its politically correctness. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. If you don’t want to eat at Chick-fil-a because of what Mr. Cathy said then stop eating there…leave more for me because it is delicious. I don’t stop eating at Chinese restaurants because they have a Buddhist influence.

Do I agree with the man? Yes, I personally think it is a sin but to be “politically correct” like this world wants me to be, you won’t really know until you die. Either you’re standing at the gates of heaven and you name is in the Book of Life and you spend eternity praising your Savior or it isn’t and you spend quite a bit of time in a lake of fire…or I guess you just die and nothing happens (which wether you want to believe it or not, is faith. SO ATHEIST HAVE FAITH). So he may have come across a little blunt, but be honest, who doesn’t have a grandparent who is like that. My mom hates visiting her mother-in-law, not because she’s over 80 years old and complains about everything but because she literally has no filter on what she says and every year I try to tell my mother to just ignore it or better yet, fire back with a smartellic remark to lighten the mood (still waiting). I guess all I’m trying to say is, quit living your life looking at what others are saying about you, stop being offended at everything. I work in retail…I see all types of people and believe me you can see a person’s true colors when money is at stake but I don’t let someone ignorant, who lacks proper vocabulary ruin my day, 9 times out of 10 I’m laughing about it in the office 15 minutes later.

Life is not perfect and I have news for you, it never will be. Not everyone will agree with your opinion, not everyone will agree with your choices but here’s the cool part…it is your life. So make something of it.
